Should you borrow against your home?

A Note From Rad Mortgage

Hi there — one of the most common questions I get from longtime homeowners is whether now is a good time to access the equity they've built. Let me share some things to think about.

Smart Borrowing

When tapping your equity makes sense

If you've built equity in your home, you have options — but not every option is right for every situation. A cash-out refinance, home equity line of credit, or home equity loan each work differently, carry different costs, and suit different goals. Before you decide to borrow against what you've built, it's worth understanding what each path looks like and what makes sense for your timeline and budget. The best choice depends on your rate environment, how soon you need the money, and what you're using it for. I'm here to walk you through the tradeoffs so you can move forward with confidence.

Let's talk about which option fits your situation.

Tip of the Week

Inspect your attic insulation. Proper insulation reduces heating and cooling costs and can prevent ice dams on your roof.

Tips for Homeowners

Fall Home Prep: Heating, Safety & Systems

1.

Have your heating system serviced before it's needed. A furnace failure in winter is an emergency — routine maintenance costs far less than emergency repairs.

2.

Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries. Carbon monoxide poisoning risk rises when heating systems run more frequently.

3.

Drain and shut off exterior faucets and sprinkler systems before the first freeze to prevent burst pipes — one of the most expensive and disruptive homeowner emergencies.
