Refinancing Strategy

When staying put beats moving up

A lot of homeowners assume that if they want a nicer house or more space, they have to sell and buy again. But here's what often gets overlooked: your current home may have more potential than you realize. Between the equity you've built, today's loan options, and the costs of buying and selling elsewhere, a strategic refinance or home equity product can sometimes give you what you're looking for right where you are. Whether that's a lower payment, cash for renovations, or different loan terms, it's worth exploring before you list. The math might surprise you.

I'd love to walk you through what your options look like. Let's talk about whether your current home can meet your needs better than you thought.

Reach out this week and we can look at your numbers together.

Tips for Homeowners

Year-End Tax & Mortgage Planning

1.

Consider making your January mortgage payment in December to get an extra month of deductible interest in the current tax year (consult your tax advisor first).

2.

If you plan to sell next year, now is a good time to document improvements — receipts and records add to your cost basis and reduce taxable capital gain at sale.

3.

Review your W-4 withholding if you bought a home this year — your mortgage interest deduction may mean you're having too much withheld from each paycheck.

Have questions about how any of this affects your mortgage or home purchase? We're here to help — reach out to the Jason Didricksen team any time and we'll walk you through your options.
