Rate Movement
When rates drop, here's what actually changes for you
I get asked this a lot: if rates come down, does my payment automatically go lower? The answer depends on what kind of loan you have. If you're on a fixed-rate mortgage, your payment stays the same—the rate drop doesn't help you unless you refinance, which means taking out a new loan. But it's worth understanding, because a rate drop can make refinancing affordable when it wasn't before. For adjustable-rate loans, changes eventually show up in your payment, though usually not right away. The bigger picture: when rates move, it changes what homes cost in real dollars, what you can afford to borrow, and whether refinancing makes sense. That's why I like to check in when the market shifts. If you'd like to talk through how rate movement affects your specific situation, I'm here to help.
